We've been long time admirers of the Ninja Tune world. I (Samy) have seen the work you've been able to do with Kate Tempest, Young Fathers, and Modeselektor (to name a few). Bonelang's an extremely hungry band and we are deeply committed to bringing our work into the European markets. My mother is a southeast London native and I spent all my summers there as a kid. I grew up listening to the acts y'all brought forward and I've had my sights set on becoming a part of the movement since.

Chicago hip-hop group Bonelang go epic with Sunny, Sonny.

“Imagine rappers trying to sound like Queen, and you’re pretty close to Chicago hip-hop group Bonelang. The band’s driving forces, rapper Samy.Language and producer-vocalist Matt Bones, have always had a fondness for experimentation and grand gestures, borrowing from indie rock, jazz, and outre electronic music to create densely layered songs with disparate sounds. Bonelang have supersized that approach on their new self-released album, Sunny, Sonny. They perform their proggy, ever-changing compositions with robotic exactness, shifting between breakneck raps and honeyed singing with whiplash-inducing swiftness—and their mini opuses sometimes feel like products of a marathon writing session for a musical theater production. Occasionally the group echo Queen’s most majestic moments with their sweeping sounds, particularly the radiant array of overdubbed vocals that opens “Plateauer.” And when Bonelang’s grandiose impulses and pop-forward songwriting skills sync up—as on the lithe nu-blues single “Anvil”—they sound like they could be the biggest band in the world.”

“The best music videos offer more to dissect than provocative visuals. Such is the case with "Michelada," the latest video from Chicago-based hip-hop duo Bonelang's debut album Venn Diagrams.”

"Bonelang goes beyond the lights for celestial 'Mushroom Moon' experience that plays to the group’s strengths and unique sound."

"A brooding, yet, peaceful premonition that foretells Egyptian-American lyricist Samy’s potential suicide should he ever give up music and writing, the track is an intensely personal and incredibly human view into the soul of an artist. ‘Sunflower Drips’ finds an artist trapped between the age-old battle between creating art for money or for simply for art’s sake."

In just over a year, Bonelang has accrued more than 15k followers across all social media platforms and generated over 500k streams as an independent artist.

Bonelang’s experimental sound, reminiscent of artists like Glass Animals, Damon Albarn and alt-J, has connected with audiences of emo, jazz, indie & hip-hop. The pairing of Matt Bones and Samy.Language is one that works well as the former offers well-paced singing verses that interplay with Samy’s fervent flow which tends to dip off into unexpected asides and diagonal wordplay.
